Trip to Kalinchowk

Travelling is always full of fun and fatigue but in the end, it refreshes mind, body and soul. Kalinchowk, a perfect destination for a short trek in Nepal can be done within 3 days. It is a Village Development Committee VDC of Dolakha District in Janakpur Zone in North Eastern Nepal. It is also one of the quickest access to the elevation of 3790m from Kathmandu via land transport.

The tremendous panoramic view of Himalayas from Kalinchowk, the pilgrimage site for Hindus (Kalinchowk Bhagwati) as well as for Buddhist, the unexplored culture, lifestyle and diversities is the attraction of a Kalinchowk trek in Nepal. It can be visited in any season during a year. From the summit of Kalinchowk , you can enjoy the splendid superb view of  Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Shisha Pangma, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Gauri Shankar etc. and can even see the Kathmandu valley in a clear day.

I want to share our experience of our trip to there.Me and three of my friends decided to go on a trip but were confused where to go as we only have 3 days vacation on first week on November. After some research and some queries to others friend we concluded that kalinchowk was the best destination for the 3 days trip around the kathmandu.

• Getting to Charikot

Every Morning Numbers of local bus leaves to charikot from the old bus park . You can get jeep (sumo) from Jadibuti but  you may get local bus  upto late morning so  old bus park is the better option.Different travel agency provides vechicle reservation and special package for the tour but the cost can  be slightly increase. It usually take 5 6 hours to reach to Charikot from Kathmandu by local bus. Charikot is the district headquarter of the Dolakha district so fooding and lodging there wont be a greater issue. you can get a room in good hotel from 800 onwards. Fooding is also not so expensive

• Getting to Kuri

if you have enough time after getting to the Charikot,you can get to the small hill bazar located at the northern side of the Charikot. I personally would recommend you to do so.You should miss the chance of having ‘Tumba'(Bamboo stick named for fun) in the chilling weather of kuri.It is about 2 hours ride or 7 -8 hours walks from Charikot to Kuri bazar. The route isnt that much confusing. You can get many shortcuts ,Follow the electric poles or the water pipe. if you dont want walking you can reserve a jeep from the charikot bazar to kuri. There are enough lodges and hotel for you to stay and have food in the Kuri bazar. There is a lodge named “Make hotel and lodge”,i promise you will love the food there.

• Kuri To Kalinchowk Mandir

Kalinchowk Bhagawati is now not far from you.It is only 1 to 1.30 hours of walk up the hill depending upon your walking nature.You can have a wonderful view of the Himalayas and the deep valley from the top.
